Technical reference·comparison

Wheat, bamboo or citrus fibre

Wheat for cost and neutrality, bamboo where a wheat declaration is unwanted or a fine grade must pass an injector, citrus where emulsification is also needed.

What each one does

Wheat and bamboo are both insoluble and hold water mechanically; they differ mainly in declaration, colour and available particle size. Citrus is partly soluble, so it holds water and also contributes viscosity and genuine emulsifying ability, at a higher price.

What decides it

The declaration, the equipment and whether a second function is needed. An injected product is decided by particle size before anything else, because a grade that blocks a needle is not a candidate whatever it does for yield.

Where the obvious answer is wrong

The obvious answer when a fibre underperforms is a higher level. Often the grade is wrong rather than the dose, and a finer grade of the same material at the same level will behave completely differently.
