i-Mix International

What we do

i-Mix is an international distributor of technical food ingredients. We combine application expertise and reliable supply to help food manufacturers develop better products and achieve consistent production results.

What we are responsible for

Seven things, and they are one job.

These responsibilities are usually divided among an international trade and distribution company, a food science and technical solutions provider, and a freight forwarder, leaving the manufacturer to coordinate the work among them. i-Mix brings all seven together as one integrated responsibility, because the gaps between them are where performance, compliance and continuity can be lost.

Ingredient sourcing and selection

Finding and selecting producers in Canada, Europe, Asia and South America, on consistency, documentation and the capacity to keep supplying as demand grows. This is a technical judgement before it is a commercial one.

International trade

i-Mix acts directly as the buyer, seller and exporter of the ingredients it supplies, managing the commercial transaction and the documentation required to move each shipment across borders.

Technical and formulation support

Working on the problem in the product: formulation, application and troubleshooting a line that is not behaving.

Training

Building the knowledge inside a customer's technical team, so the capability stays after we leave.

Market development

Opening markets for producers and opening access to ingredients for manufacturers. Both directions of the same work.

Logistics

i-Mix manages the logistics required for each shipment, including carrier selection and booking, shipping documents, customs coordination, warehousing, cargo insurance and delivery to the agreed point under the agreed delivery terms.

Supply-chain coordination

i-Mix connects demand forecasting, production planning with suppliers, inventory management and order timing to maintain supply continuity and reduce the risk of interruptions to the customer's production.

The i-Mix operating method

The i-Mix IDEA Framework

Every customer project follows the i-Mix IDEA Framework.

I. Identify the Requirement

We define the customer’s requirements in full, including product function, process conditions, destination market regulations, previous attempts, end consumer preferences and their market demand.

D. Design and Develop

i-Mix’s research and development team works with the customer’s technical team to define the project, develop the required ingredient or solution, and prepare proposals and samples.

E. Evaluate and Validate

Samples are tested under actual production conditions. Our technical team supports each trial and coordinates the required adjustments until performance is validated.

A. Assure Continuity

Once the project is approved, i-Mix provides a continuous and reliable supply to support ongoing production. Our technical team remains available to maintain consistent performance, address production challenges and provide further support whenever required.

The application comes first.

Customer requirements vary. The technical answer should reflect them.

Every application has its own product function, process conditions, destination-market regulations, end-consumer preferences and market demand. i-Mix begins with what the customer is trying to achieve and the performance required in the finished product and on the production line.

Technical integrity

i-Mix bases each recommendation on what an ingredient can realistically achieve in the customer’s application. Market trends help define the opportunity, but demonstrated performance determines the technical answer.

PERFORMANCE

Private label

Each i-Mix private-label technical food ingredient is built to a specification defined and owned by i-Mix, not selected from a producer’s catalogue. The intended application, required performance and destination-market requirements shape the specification, and i-Mix selects the producer best able to meet it consistently.

There is no catalogue, because the product is specified for the problem rather than picked off a shelf.SPECIFICATION

THE COMPLETE ANSWER

A Solution is the complete answer to a customer’s challenge. It may involve a single ingredient, an i-Mix System or several coordinated products working together.

The right answer is the one that performs.

Capability that stays

Training and Knowledge Transfer

The capability should remain with the customer.

i-Mix provides application-specific training on ingredient functionality, formulation, quality considerations and production use. We transfer practical knowledge to the customer’s technical and production teams so they can apply the ingredient or solution correctly, make informed decisions and maintain consistent performance independently.

Regulatory

An ingredient that is approved at home may not be approved where the product is sold.

Ingredient status differs between markets, and so does what may be said on a label. We work on the destination market’s requirements as part of the technical answer, not as an afterthought once the formulation is settled.

In coordination with the customer’s regulatory team, we assess whether proposed ingredients are permitted for the intended application and review the applicable conditions and permitted levels of use before the formulation moves forward.

One Example in Practice

A Protein-Enrichment Project

Gloved hands stretching a hydrated protein matrix to reveal its network structure

Protein enrichment is one example of how i-Mix brings technical development, ingredient selection, regulatory review, application trials, knowledge transfer and supply-chain execution together in one project.

We begin by defining the application, nutritional target, processing conditions, sensory expectations and destination-market requirements. We then select the appropriate protein, develop the supporting system or solution, coordinate trials and adjustments with the customer’s technical team, and carry the approved project into reliable supply.

Because added protein can change water binding, structure, texture, flavour and processing, the objective is not simply to increase the number on a label. It is to reach the nutritional target while protecting the performance and quality of the finished product.
